Greetings everyone! We’ve made it to the end of lent term! Well done for getting through, and hopefully all your deadlines are almost out of the way! There will be no weekly meeting this week due to end of term obligations. Our last big social of term is here – our fantastic Canal Street trip on Friday night! We hope you’ve kept your diaries open for one last blowout before you head home for the holiday. Tickets will be on-sale this week (make sure to keep up with our Facebook page to find out when).

MONDAY

THURSDAY
Postgrad, Mature Student and Staff (PMS) Group- 17:30 Flyde bar

This is a casual gathering where LGBTQ postgrads, mature students and staff can relax after work, socialise and discuss LGBTQ issues specific to them.
The main exec that usually hosts this cannot attend this week so please contact us or the Facebook group to check for others that will be attending.

T and Coffee – 18:00

Canal Street – 21:00
The event you’ve all been waiting for, our Canal Street trip! Tickets will be £14, which includes coach travel to and from Manchester, and entry and drinks offers at three fantastic bars!
Make sure to grab your ticket before they all sell out, and be there when the coach arrives! If you can please see our FB event page for more details.

We’re heading towards the end of term and this week we’ll be running an aromantism awareness campaign so be sure to look out for more information.

Our LGBTQ+ group for Postgraduate and Mature Students and Staff. This is an opportunity for specifically postgrads, mature students and staff to chat after work.

FRIDAY
T and Coffee – 18:00
This is a trans-specific social meeting for trans people to come together and discuss anything important to them. T and Coffee will be held at 6pm, and if you’re interested in attending, just send us a Facebook message.

In this week’s meeting we had an Aromanticism Awareness workshop, dispelling misconceptions, the types of attraction and the spectrum of Aromanticism.

Saturday – Our one and only Sugarhouse Takeover will be happening once more! For those of you who wanted to go and couldn’t last term, make sure to grab yourself a wristband for free Sugar entry (only £1!) and come down Saturday night for an awesome night of fantastic music and great decoration! Don’t forget to invite friends!

This meeting was about some further updates on history month, future trips that are being planned as well as a discussion about LGBTQ+ individuals that have inspired people.

Minutes Week 17 2016

Hello everyone! We’re approaching the halfway point on history month – if you got a chance to go to last week’s Gaylidh, we hope you enjoyed it! We’ve still got some tricks up our sleeve, and make sure to keep an eye out for the things that Women’s Forum and Liminal will be doing!

Monday – Coffee Evening will be at 6PM in Furness TV Room. This is our casual social weekly event where we have a warm drink and a chat. Feel free to bring games or friends!

Tuesday – On Tuesday, Out in the Bay, Lancaster’s local LGBT charity, will be hosting a stall in Alexandra Square to discuss what they’re up to during History Month.

Wednesday – Wednesday is our weekly meeting in Charles Carter A19. There’ll be some discussion, and finalising our plans for the rest of the month, and hopefully getting into detail on our upcoming Sugar Takeover and Canal Street trip!

Also on Thursday is our third film screening of History Month. This week’s film is United in Anger, a documentary film about the beginning of the AIDS activist movement. The film screening will be at 7PM in Furness Lecture Theatre 2.

Friday – T and Coffee, the social night for trans students, will be on Friday evening at 6PM. If you’re interested in this, please contact us preferably through Facebook or via email (completely confidential).

And on Friday night we’re having our Decades-Themed Party! Dress up in the attire of a decade – for examples, some fashionable 90s double-denim – and come have a nice time. It starts in County Bar at 19:30!

Saturday – On Saturday, there will be a trans-specific social – a charity shop crawl where we will go round each of Lancaster’s charity shops to find ourselves comfortable clothing. If you’re interested in joining, send us a message.
